How well do weak shots work compared to Undisputed 2010?

What I hate about UFC 2010 is jabs are completely useless. Every time you try and fight a smart fight and avoid a slugfest the cpu constantly walks through jabs or weak shots and starts throwing bombs forcing you to do the same. Has it been comfirmed if EA MMA will be the same or will weak strikes actually mean something?|||I only have the demo but I feel the exact same way. Whenever you want to fight right, its not a option. You are always forced into a slugfest time & time again. The standup game doesnt feel realistic at all & seems pretty limited overall.|||I am a little concerned about this aswell. In FNR4 the weak shots had no purpose either. I most certainly hope that it will be different in this game.|||It is a tough thing to balance. You want them to have purpose, but you need to make sure you don't overpower them. I imagine that it isn't easy to do so.|||You can get some fights where you can set up jabs but they're more so rather useless.|||Only way I can see it being balanced is if certain strikes had short enough recovery time to block a right cross, but he would get nailed by a jab.
For example...
Cung Le throws a headkick, Scott Smith blocks it.
Smith throws a right cross, Cung Le blocks it.
Cung Le throws a headkick, Scott Smith blocks it.
Smith throws a jab, Cung Le gets hit.|||A decent way to balance this is to make the jab a weapon.
When you throw it, it does something.
In this case, you are setting up a right cross.
You jab, your opponent goes to guard but the jab is simply faster then the guy can bring his lax guard up.
It hits him, snaps his head back slightly and 'loosens' or 'weakens' his now in place guard. The right cross comes, and rather then be blocked almost entirely by the guard it does say, 3/4th damage or something.
|||It needs to do something the ufc game sucked because only power punches did significant damage|||From what I have seen, it looks like you can just walk through headkicks from cung so I don't see them having a big effect.|||Jabs should be useful for keeping your opponent at range and also scoring and setting up bigger punches. The jab should get through your opponent's guard much more easily than the other punches because of the quickness and the low risk.
If you can land hooks and crosses like a real fighter lands a jab, then the jab will become useless, so make the other punches more dangerous, but less efficient.
A long cross should be slower than the jab and cause a bit more damage, a short straight should be as hard as any other punch. I hate not being able to knock a guy out with straight punches.
Also, jabs should be capable of putting a guy on his butt if he moves into it.|||

I completely agree.
They shouldn't make the same mistake Fight Night has where the jab is useless.
You should be able to use the jab to keep your opponent at bay and shut him in down when he trys to attack and also, to set up bigger shots.
